JANUARY 15, 2010
Amelia Island Weekend !
KDBSF first weekend trip for 2010
This location was suggested by Lilly Pikman. As a motorcycle riding club, this will fit in with our credo (The passion to ride). Our trip will take us on Florida back roads and highways with all it's natural beauty. We will see some of the best Florida has to offer. Our ride should be a great experience for all, especially riders that haven't joined us for a weekend away trip.
Anticipated arrival is about 3:30 PM. After our great ride, we will gather for dinner about 7:00 PM. The next morning we will take a ride through the local countryside and be back for lunch. After lunch, a planned tour will take us through the old town to see and explore some of it's history and sites. The rest of the day will be yours to do what you want.
We will meet at 7:00PM for our farewell dinner.
The group will have breakfast in the morning and head back home. We should arrive home by 5:00PM.
The temperature average in January is a high of 67 and a low of 50 (Fahrenheit) . I will send more info as to what you will need to pack for this trip as we get closer to the departure date.
Amelia Island is a quaint place just north of Jacksonville, FL. Fernandina Beach is still characterized by Victorian-era architecture and a remarkable historic district. Florida's oldest operating hotel, the Florida House Inn, located in a 50-block area of homes and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. On the north end of the island, visitors can explore Old Town, the last Spanish Town in the Western Hemisphere in 1811. Old town was the original encampment of the Timucuans and at one time featured the Spanish Fort San Carlos.
We will be staying at the Amelia Island Plantation. The room rates are $179.00+ TX for two nights. Standard room with king beds. This rate includes a continental breakfast. You will have to call and make reservations. The rooms are being held under (Sid Kaufman).
